High Performance Energy Efficient Homes
"anything less is just a house"

FAQ's

1.   What is ENERGY STAR?

ENERGY STAR is the government-backed symbol for energy efficiency. The mark identifies new homes, buildings, and more than 50 types of products that are energy efficient and offer the features, quality, and performance that today's consumers expect.

2.   What makes a home ENERGY STAR?

Homes that earn the ENERGY STAR are significantly more energy efficient than standard built homes. ENERGY STAR qualified homes feature-tight construction and ducts, effective insulation, efficient heating and cooling equipment, high performance windows, efficient products, and most importantly independent testing.

3.    How much can I save with an ENERGY STAR qualified home?

The typical household spends $1900 per year on energy bills. With an ENERGY STAR  qualified home you can save up to 30%, or more than $600 per year. Additional savings on maintenance can also be significant.

4.    Do ENERGY STAR qualified homes look different than standard homes?
No. That's why it is important to look for the government-backed ENERGY STAR to easily identify homes that are truly energy efficient.

5.     Does it cost more?
The short answer is yes. An ENERGY STAR qualified home will cost 3% to 5% more than a standard built home.

6.     Why would I want to pay more?

When figuring the total cost of home ownership you must figure energy into the equation. If your mortgage payment is slightly higher due to the higher initial cost of the home, the lower energy bills usually offset, if not REDUCE, the total monthly costs. When the cost for energy increases in the future your savings will multiply.

7.     All builders say their homes are efficient. What makes you different
The main difference is we don't make empty promises. We have partnered with ENERGY STAR for a reason and that is to make sure the homes we build are energy efficient and cost effective. We also have each home tested by an independent Home Energy Rater. This insures that you, the home buyer, are getting exactly what you expect.
